چکیده

In this paper, a chromatic adaptation model (CAM) based on the dependence on LMS cone responses of the human visual system (HVS) is proposed for TV and PC monitors under a variety of viewing conditions. We derived the proposed CAM based on Breneman’s corresponding color data. The results of the experiments were carried out to assess the proposed model performance in terms of color fidelity by comparing complex images on a LCD monitor. We confirmed that the proposed model performed better to predict corresponding colors under various viewing conditions. Therefore, the reproduced colors, which are viewed in real surround viewing conditions, are perceived the same as original object colors, when the proposed CAM was applied to color display devices such as CRT, LCD, and PDP. key words: color reproduction, chromatic adaptation, corresponding color

Spectral Sharpening and the Bradford Transform

The Bradford chromatic adaptation transform, empirically derived by Lam [1], models illumination change. Specifically, it provides a means of mapping XYZs under a reference source to XYZs for a target light such that the corresponding XYZs produce the same perceived colour. One implication of the Bradford chromatic adaptation transform is that colour correction for illumination takes place not ...

Predicting Cone Quantum Catches under Illuminant Change

Given LMS cone quantum catches from a surface under a first illuminant what is the best method of predicting what the corresponding quantum catches will be for the same surface under a second illuminant given only the quantum catches of a white surface under both illuminants? The von Kries rule is one well known method. In this paper, two new prediction methods along with a variation on an exis...

Chromatic Adaptation Model for Incomplete Chromatic Adaptation

When the adaptation level is not high enough, the maximum adaptation stimulus is not equal with the plot of illuminant. This property is accepted in this paper. Using this property, we propose a chromatic adaptation model for the level of adapting luminance and chromaticity in various surrounding illuminants. In this model, we calculate the maximum adapting responses using adapting degree for v...

Two New von Kries Based Chromatic Adaptation Transforms Found by Numerical Optimization

In this paper, two new von Kries based chromatic adaptation transforms are proposed. The numerical optimization procedure adopted for deriving them simultaneously exploits the whole sets of data available and the existing chromatic adaptation transforms. Experimental results report several statistics to prove the effectiveness of our proposals with respect to the state-of-the-art. INTRODUCTION ...

Computing chromatic adaptation

Most of today’s chromatic adaptation transforms (CATs) are based on a modified form of the von Kries chromatic adaptation model, which states that chromatic adaptation is an independent gain regulation of the three photoreceptors in the human visual system. However, modern CATs apply the scaling not in cone space, but use “sharper” sensors, i.e. sensors that have a narrower shape than cones. Th...
